The light from the moon streaming through the slits of my mom’s handmade curtains calmed me down once my eyes adjusted to the darkness. I looked forward to that so I could fall asleep, knowing there was still light coming in from outside. That even in the darkest of nights, there would always be that light the slips in between the crevices.
As an adult, I had to walk through some of the darkest moments in my life alone and through all of them, I always looked for light seeping through the window just above the window pane. I found deep solace in knowing that the light would still shed its light on darkness.
