Eating Out

When others think of eating out as going out to a restaurant or a cafe to eat, memories of my family eating outside beneath a tree floods my mind. One particular memory stands out among all the others. There’s a family having dinner inside a restaurant, everyone is seated at a nice cushy dining table, eating the most delicious meal ever served, talking and laughing away, just simply enjoying one another’s company. You can’t help but stay gazed with envy in their direction and your line of sight guides you outside where you see another family eating beneath a tree. Mothers are slapping together what appears to be sandwiches and passing them out to the rest of the family. A bag of chips is shared among everyone. Sodas are shared between siblings as they settle beneath the tree to eat.
I am one of the lil’ girls eating out beneath the tree. Only my sandwich consists of barbecue chips between two slices of bread.
