Standing in the corner was one of the first types of discipline I’ve ever had to endure from my mother. When one of my lil’ sisters and I would start fighting over a toy, which was very often, our mother would send each of us to a corner where we had to stand quietly, facing towards the wall and this was very hard to do as a young child. To try and stand quietly, against the wall, looking right at the wall, and not making a sound was very, very hard. After a few long minutes, which felt like forever, we would start begging our mom to end our punishment, promising her that we wouldn’t get into another fight. After, she’d let us go before our time was up and we would end up right back in the corner a few minutes later. It was so funny because we would end up begging her again.
