Peanuts n’ Coke

The long, winding, dusty road to the trading post where a glass bottle of Coke and peanuts waited for me. My mom would pick out her groceries and puts them on the counter as the bilgaana man tallied up her bill to put on her credit. A credit which would be paid on her payday. We walk out with two paper sacks full of food. I look at the long rail of log that stretches across this pole to another which holds the tethered horses, who patiently wait for their riders who are inside the trading post, shopping and checking their general delivered mail. I look forward to hearing the woah’s as they mount their horses to head home. We pile back into the back of the pick-up truck that we came in and continue back down the long, winding, dusty road home with my bottle of peanuts n’ Coke. Such a sweet, sweet memory!
